Cervical screening invites are changing

NHS England is introducing more personalized cervical screening.

Younger women (25-49) who test negative for HPV will now be invited for screening every 5 years instead of 3, based on clinical evidence. 

This change, effective from July 2025, aligns with the screening interval already used for women aged 50-64.

The NHS is also implementing digital invitations and reminders through the NHS App to boost screening uptake.
